Westerville Public Library

The public library is a community centered institution serving a wide range of organizations, interests, and age groups. Schools and students are an important segment of the community. With a goal of making contact between educators and the public library more effective, the Westerville Public Library will provide an extended loan period for classroom book collections.

In order for the library's collection to reach the maximum number of students, the following has been implemented:

  1. Collections may be assembled and borrowed by teachers responsible for a full time class room, instructors in state licensed preschools and day care facilities, or home school educators, for a eight week [8] loan period on his/her own library card. An eight week loan period must be requested at the time of check out. Note: The library staff will not assemble collections. Computer guidance and general assistance will be available only as time permits.
  2. Collections may not exceed thirty [30] books.
    1. Teachers are requested not to deplete subject areas since library materials are utilized by the entire community.
    2. No more than three [3] copies of a single title may be borrowed.
    3. Holiday materials [14 day loan], puzzles, paperbacks, magazines, board books, videos, compact disks, and audio cassettes may not included in a teacher's collection.
  3. Classroom collections may not be:
    1. renewed
    2. transferred to another card or loan period
  4. The collection borrower is responsible for the books in the collection and any fines levied on late materials.
    1. Borrowing privileges will be suspended if any charges exceed $5.00
    2. An entire collection cannot be reported "lost" to avoid fines.
