Sample Library Policy Statements
This policy list been compiled to assist Ohio public libraries in the development of effective policies and practices. The Management and Administration Division of the Ohio Library Council has collected policies from small, medium and large public libraries in Ohio to assist the Library, Programs and Development Division of the State Library of Ohio in helping these libraries develop effective policies and practices. It is advised that legal counsel review policies for legal language and compliance with Ohio laws.
These sample policies are currently being used by Ohio public libraries. Although not a complete listing, these model policies can serve as patterns or examples in developing your specific library policy. We also recommend that legal counsel review your policy for legal language and compliance with Ohio laws.
