Ohio Open Public Meeting Law

Ohio Open Public Meeting Law Resolution No.11–75
The following Resolution (No. 11–75) was adopted by the Board in conformance to the new Ohio Open Public Meeting Law (Am. Sub. S. B. 74) which becomes effective November 28, 1975. This action was taken on motion of Mr. Jackson, seconded by Mrs. Solon, all voting aye. The resolution states:
Whereas, the General Assembly of the State of Ohio has passed Sub. S. B. 74 known as the Ohio Open Public Meeting Law and the same becomes effective on 28 November, 1975, and
Whereas, the Board of Trustees of the Toledo–Lucas County Public Library has, in principle and in practice, demonstrated its concurrence with the purpose and intent of such law, and
Whereas, Sub. S. B. 74 provides that every public body shall by rule establish a reasonable method whereby any person may determine the time and place of all regular scheduled meetings, and the time and place of all special meetings, Now Therefore Be It
Resolved, That
- (1) an official communication be submitted to all commercial print and broadcast media serving the Toledo–Lucas County Public Library district that the regular monthly meeting of the Board of Trustees shall be held at 8 a. m. in the Board Room at the Main Library on the third Thursday of each month except August,
- (2) a notice of such schedule shall be posted on the public bulletin board in each library agency,
- (3) that any deviation from that regular schedule or any special meeting of the Board of Trustees shall be reported to the media and similarly posted in library agencies at least 24 hours in advance of such meeting,
- (4) that any person may, upon request and payment of a reasonable fee, currently established at $1.00 a year, obtain advance notification of all meetings, and
- (5) that any person who inquires, in person or by telephone, concerning the date, time and place of such meetings shall be so informed.
