Wireless Network Instructions

Connecting to the Public Wireless Network

Public wireless network access (WiFi) is currently available at the State Library of Ohio. Patrons and Guests at the library may use their own wireless devices to gain access to the World Wide Web on the Internet while at the State Library.

Whenever you select⁄login to use the State Library's of Ohio's public wireless network, STLOGuest, you are agreeing to the terms and conditions set forth in the document State Library of Ohio – Public Wireless Access Policy.

Minimum Requirements

Connecting to the State Library of Ohio's guest wireless network requires a laptop computer or any wireless device equipped with a wireless client adapter supporting the following IEEE 802.11, Wi–Fi, standards

*802.11a⁄g    802.11b

In addition, the device must include capabilities for configuration and support of the following following Wi–Fi Alliance Security Authentication Types:

*WPA2™-PSK and⁄or WPA™-PSK
(Wi–Fi Protected Access Pre–Shared Key or passphrase)

Connection Information

  1. A passphrase⁄password is required for access.
    (Please check with library staff at the Information Desk to obtain the current passphrase⁄password.)
  2. Configure your computer to automatically accept an IP address. A DHCP address will be allocated automatically upon successful login.
  3. Wi–Fi Client Profile Settings
    • SSID (network name) = STLOGuest
    • Security Mode Settings = WPA⁄WPA2 - Personal(preferred WPA2)
    • Passphrase = Enter the "password⁄passphrase" obtained in step one.
    • Data Encryption = AES–CCMP or TKIP if AES functionality is unavailable.
    • Operating Mode or Network Type = Infrastructure mode or access point
