- SEO meets and discusses the details of automation with the interested library director, and if requested, with the board of trustees. To request information, contact Dianna Clark, SEO Director, at 800-282-2779.
- The library then contacts SirsiDynix for a quote on the cost of automating, re: equipment, SirsiDynix license, modules etc.
- If the board accepts the cost with SirsiDynix and agrees on the ongoing cost with SEO, the modules and hardware can be ordered. All ordering of equipment is done between the library and SirsiDynix. At that time, if there is no contract with SirsiDynix for the profiling process, SEO will go over the pre-install forms with the director.
- On the completion of the pre-install forms and modules being loaded, SEO will then enter the information into the database.
- When all data have been entered and the library has received and setup their hardware, SEO can then begin the training for linking the library holdings onto the database. If the library is migrating from another automation system to SEO, SirsiDynix will send a programmer to the library to work out the details.
- When the library is near to completion on the linking of holdings, they can begin to register patrons. Migrating libraries will not need to re-register patrons.
- The library is encouraged by SEO to begin visiting other SirsiDynix libraries in their area for training at the circulation desk. This has been the process for circulation training due to the differences between SEO circulation procedures and the needs of public libraries. This has been very successful in the past.
- The library can then set a date that is comfortable for them to begin online circulation. They will only circulate within their library for the 4-6 weeks before their items become available to the entire database.
