John Myles Joins the State Library Board
The State Library of Ohio is pleased to announce that the State Board of Education of Ohio recently appointed John Myles to the State Library Board and he was recently sworn in at the January 27, 2011 State Library Board meeting. John has served as the Library Media Specialist since 1976 for the Liberty Center Local School district located in Henry County. He has held leadership positions and served on committees and advisory councils in numerous regional, statewide, and national library and education organizations including Ohio Education Library Media Association (OELMA), INFOhio, National Education Association, Northwest Education Association, Northwest Library District, Northwest Regional Library System (NORWELD), the Liberty Center Public Library Board, and as a member of the Advisory Council on Federal Library Programs at the State Library of Ohio. John will retire from the Liberty Center Local School district in May of this year.
The State Library of Ohio is governed by a five member board whose members are appointed to five year terms by the State Board of Education. Under the Ohio Revised Code, section 3375.01, members of the board cannot be recent members of the State Board of Education and cannot serve on the Board of Trustees of any other library while on the State Library Board. When a position becomes available on the Board the State Library sends out a call for nominations to the Ohio Library Community and then forwards three recommendations to the State Board of Education for their consideration.

Katrina Miday and Joe Atzberger join the State Library of Ohio Staff
The State Library of Ohio is pleased to announce that Katrina Miday and Joe Atzberger have recently joined the staff of the State Library of Ohio.
Katrina Miday is the new Library Development Consultant with an emphasis on technology. Katrina will serve as Project Manager for the Ohio eBook Project and as the State Library’s E-Rate contact. She will also be available to assist Ohio librarians in writing Technology Plans, Internet privacy policies, and other technology policies as well as assist them in evaluating technology service needs. Previously, her experience includes positions at Medina County District Library, Stewart’s Caring Place, Akron-Summit County Public Library and Stark County District Library. She has a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from Kent State University and Bachelor’s degree from the University of Akron. |

Joe has bachelor’s degrees in Computer & Information Science and English Literature & Criticism from Ohio State University. He has broad experience working in the library community. For the past 3 years, Joe has worked as a developer of integrated library systems for Equinox Software, Inc. and LibLime. Prior to his employment at LibLime, Joe worked as a Technical Specialist for the Metropolitan Educational Council. |

Joe Atzberger is the new Systems Analyst I within the Information Systems and Technology group. Joe will be supporting a wide range of technologies and applications at the State Library. Some of his many responsibilities will include network security and administration, Unix and Windows server administration, and web application support. Joe will be supporting the State Library’s participation in OhioLINK, as well as other services that we provide to state agencies, state employees, and the Ohio library communities.
