Namiotka joins the State Library of Ohio Staff
On February 20, David Namiotka joined the State Library of Ohio as Director of Information Systems and Technology. David will be responsible for leadership and management of the IT department, overseeing day to day operations, and for the long range planning and implementation to improve access to the State Library of Ohio’s resources, programs and services. David comes to the State Library from the Seattle Washington area where his work included technology systems management, team leadership, capacity planning and development.
David holds a Masters of Science degree in Physics from Lehigh University and brings 13 years experience in information technology systems. According to Jo Budler, “We look forward to introducing David to the library community in the very near future, as he joins us in our work, particularly as we continue to enhance statewide resource sharing and as we look at the feasibility of Open Source software in library automation in Ohio libraries.”
Hickle assumes post as the State Library of Ohio Data Coordinator
After many years of service to the State Library of Ohio Darla Conttril has retired. Assuming Darla’s duties as State Data Coordinator is Lisa Hickle. The State Data Coordinator collects and maintains statistics of Ohio Public Libraries and provides data comparisons for individual public libraries. To a limited extent, statistics from other types of libraries are available. Statistics are shared with the National Center for Education Statistics. Lisa will also continue her work with the LSTA grant program as fiscal coordinator. She can be reached through email or by phone at 614-644–6920.
