At Northeast Ohio Regional Library System (NEO-RLS) we are very excited about the future.  Since arriving in October, I have been getting up to speed on all that NEO-RLS offers.  I have also attempted to make myself visible by visiting member libraries.  I have gleaned a great deal of information from both full and geographic members as to what they perceive the role of NEO-RLS to be.  Members interests run the gamut from Continuing Education offerings, technical support, vendor discounts, health insurance and a myriad of other services that NEO-RLS offers.  It is our purpose as a member driven organization to meet the needs of our members and enhance their libraries in any way that we can.  Lately, a buzzword around the NEO-RLS offices has been relevancy.  We realize that we need to not only be relevant to the Northeastern Ohio Library community but also that we need to ensure that we remain relevant by keeping current with library trends.  It is a daunting task … however, it is a task that the entire staff at NEO is up to. 

In the near future we will be offering ContentDM to both full and geographic members.  We will also be circulating a video game collection to interested libraries for a very low yearly cost.  It is our belief that libraries who may be hesitant to invest heavily in video games will try our circuit.  From that point they may decide that video games are important to their collection, not something they wish to pursue further or something they are content to offer their patrons through NEO’s circuit.  We are also working to be a better partner to school libraries.  All in all we are quite busy and, as I stated before, excited about the future will bring to both NEO and the libraries of Northeastern Ohio.
